The Oakland Athletics have reinstated right-hander Bartolo Colon from the 15-day disabled list and optioned right-hander Evan Scribner to Triple-A, the team has announced.

Colon, who missed a little more than two weeks with a groin strain, will start for the A's Thursday afternoon in their series finale against the Tigers. He will pitch opposite Cy Young favorite Max Scherzer.
Oakland has won the first three games in Detroit by a combined score of 28-13, and can seal the sweep with another victory Thursday.
The 40-year-old right-hander has been something of a revelation for the A’s this year, posting a 2.97 earned-run average and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of better than three to one in 154⅓ innings over 24 starts. Despite a career-low strikeout rate of fewer than five batters per nine, Colon has somehow managed to keep hitters from squaring up the baseball, earning himself a spot on the AL All-Star squad and a league-best three shutouts.
Scribner, 28, was a solid contributor down the stretch for the A’s last season, but has seen limited bullpen time this year. The right-hander made just one appearance in his latest stint with the club. He owns a 5.03 ERA in 19⅔ innings on the year.
