Major League Baseball released the master 2014 regular season schedule Tuesday morning, revealing a host of interesting tidbits about next year’s match-ups.

As announced in June, the season's opening series will take place in Sydney, Australia, on March 22-23 between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers. The two-game series will be the first regular season action down under in baseball history, joining the international locales of Mexico, Japan, and Puerto Rico.
A full week after the opening series -- on Sunday, March 30 -- the first stateside match-up will take place. Details on who will take part in Opening Night -- which will be aired on ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” -- are still being worked out.
The first almost full slate of games -- i.e. the real Opening Day -- will take place on Monday, March 31, and includes 10 intra-division match-ups and an interleague contest between the Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies. The slate of games drops back down to just nine on Tuesday, Apr. 1 -- including Opening Day for the Yankees and Astros -- but then settles into the regular season rhythm from there.
Many of the special days of next year's regular season seem to fall on T-days. The 2014 All-Star Game, which is set to be playing in Minnesota's Target Field, will take place on Tuesday, July 15, while Jackie Robinson Day will be held on Tuesday, April 15. The 2014 MLB Draft will begin on Thursday, June 5.
It will be at least one more season before every team has played in every park city, as the Blue Jays are not scheduled to face the Padres at all next season (The Friars have never been to Toronto). The final day of the regular season will be Sunday, Sept. 28, and will consist of 12 divisional games.
