Atlanta Braves right-hander Brandon Beachy has temporarily halted his throwing program because of continued discomfort in his throwing elbow, reports Carroll Rogers of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Brandon Beachy injury: Braves RHP scales back throwing program
The right-hander continues to feel discomfort in his surgically repaired elbow.

Beachy tried playing catch over the weekend following a two-week shutdown period, but didn’t feel great after the session. The right-hander would not speak on the subject Thursday other than to say that he was “frustrated” and “not where I want to be.”
The 27-year-old, who underwent Tommy John surgery last June, returned to the Braves rotation briefly at the end of July, but was forced to the sidelines again after just five starts when his elbow flared up. An MRI taken by team doctors when he went to the disabled list didn’t indicate any structural damage in his elbow. A follow-up visit to elbow maven Dr. James Andrews resulted in Beachy’s two-week shutdown, but didn’t reveal much beyond that.
When Beachy hit the DL last month, the Braves were hopeful that he could at least return to the bullpen for the last few weeks of the regular season. Beachy still isn’t ruling out a return, but his chances of getting back on the hill appear much less likely now.
In his brief time with Atlanta this year, Beachy has posted a 4.50 earned-run average and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of almost six-to-one in 30 innings of work.
