Jeffrey Loria may shake up the Marlins front office at the end of the season.

Miami enters Monday with a 57-99 record, last place in the National League. Loria has taken greater control of baseball decisions this season, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald. A major-league source discussed the Marlins front office situation with Spencer, telling the reporter:
“He has marginalized the front office. The front office isn’t making decisions. Loria makes them all.”

Three high-level front office personnel could lose their jobs after the season: Larry Beinfest, Mike Hill and David Samson. Beinfest is the President of Baseball Operations for Miami, and has been with the club for 13 years. Spending that much time with the Marlins may have take it’s toll on Beinfest, as anonymous source told Linda Roberston of the Miami Herald:
“There’s a sense that Larry is burned out. That’s natural considering he’s been with the same team for 13 years. Given the fact that the team has had three last-place seasons with him at the top of baseball operations, perhaps he not only bears some responsibility but he would want to use rumors about Jeffrey in the media in a way that would allow him to be relieved of his duties.”
It is unclear whether Samson would also receive a pink slip from Loria in a shakeup. Passan writes that Loria believes Samson was a source in the Tino Martinez story: the Marlins hitting coach resigned after being accusedof abusing several players. A different source, however, told Spencer that “Samson’s job is not in jeopardy.”
If Loria chooses to clean house, he is expected to promote assistant general manager Dan Jennings to general manager.
