New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson is expected to meet with manager Terry Collins on Monday and begin discussing a contract extension, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Collins’ contract expires at the end of the season, but may sign an extension with the Mets.

Alderson and Collins have not discussed an extension at all this season, according to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News. Collins joined the Mets in 2011, signing a two-year deal with a club option for 2013, which was picked up last year.

The Mets have been below .500 in all three seasons of Collins’ tenure, but the front office has reportedly been happy with his work. Alderson said earlier in the year that Collins would be judged by more than “simply wins and losses,” and indicated that Collins has done a good job keeping the players upbeat and motivated despite the disappointing season.
Collins plans to head to the instructional league after season ends, according to Martino. None of his coaches are planning to leave the team either as they wait to find out their fate with the Mets.
