Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers will discuss the team's coaching staff with manager Kirk Gibson at the end of the year to determine if any changes need to be made, reports Nick Piecoro of AZ Central.

Towers discussed the team's situation with the reporter on Thursday, reiterating that he supports Gibson as the team's manager and does not expect ownership to remove Gibson. The team, however, make shake up Gibson's coaching staff that features a number of former All-Stars; pitching coach Charles Nagy, hitting coaches Don Baylor and Tuner Ward and bench coach Alan Trammel.

Gibson is taking full responsibility for the Diamondbacks’ disappointing season, telling Piecoro:

“I take 100 percent accountability of what goes on. It’s my responsibility to lead us. I reflect on those things and things that I can be better at. Again, you can do everything right and it doesn’t mean you win. I know people look and try to fix blame on certain areas. They can put it on me. I have no problem with that.”

The coaching staff is relatively unchanged from the Diamondbacks 2011 staff, when they went from worst-to-first and won 94 games. Arizona enters Friday with a 80-79 record, 11 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.

Towers and Gibson are both under contract through 2014, but all of the Diamondbacks’ coaches contracts expire at the end of the season.
