Evidence against Alex Rodriguez to be revealed on CBS’ ‘60 Minutes’

The program will include interviews with Anthony Bosch and Major League Baseball’s chief operating officer, Bob Manfred.

Details of the evidence Major League Baseball had against Alex Rodriguez will be revealed on the CBS news program "60 Minutes" on Sunday night, including a claim that Anthony Bosch delivered banned substances to the Yankees third baseman at least 12 times.

Rodriguez had his 211-game suspension reduced to 162 games on Saturday by arbitrator Fredric Horowitz, making the slugger ineligible for the entire 2014 regular season and playoffs.

The report by Scott Pelley of “60 Minutes” will feature interviews with MLB chief operating officer Rob Manfred and Bosch, who ran the Miami-based Biognesis clinic at the center of the scandal. Rodriguez was one of 13 players suspended by MLB in the scandal, but no other penalty was more than 65 games.

The reasons that Rodriguez’s punishment was so harsh included these charges from Bosch, per CBS News:

-He personally injected Rodriguez because "Alex is scared of needles, so at times, he would ask me to inject."

-Rodriguez's mission was to hit 800 home runs and that the Yankee slugger asked him for what he gave MLB superstar Manny Ramirez, a former Bosch client

-Text messages obtained by 60 Minutes between him and Rodriguez indicate that at times they communicated daily about the substances the slugger took on his "protocol"

-Says Rodriguez associates intimidated him to try to prevent him from cooperating with MLB in its investigation of the Yankee third baseman.

Rodriguez, per CBS, declined all requests to be interviewed for the report. However, in a statement on Saturday in response to his suspension, he said the case against him “relies on testimony and documents that would never have been allowed in any court in the United States because they are false and wholly unreliable.”

Bosch’s credibility as a witness has been questioned by Rodriguez, as MLB paid Bosch’s legal fees and provided security for him in exchange for his testimony. Pressed by Pelley on the veracity of Bosch’s claims, Manfred replied, “The credibility of any witness is determined by … looking the individual in the eye, listening to the story he tells and then lining it up with the other evidence. And frankly, nobody came in and contradicted what Mr. Bosch said.”
