Giants vs. Cardinals NLCS Game 1 starting lineups
Both the Giants and Cardinals are sticking with their usual lineups of late in Game 1 of the NLCS on Saturday night at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
The St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants get underway in the National League Championship Series on Saturday night at Busch Stadium. Both teams are using familiar starting lineups for Game 1.
The Giants added Michael Morse, who missed the Division Series, back to their roster for the NLCS, though he isn't starting on Saturday night. San Francisco is sticking in left field with Travis Ishikawa, who has started four of their five postseason games but is just 2-for-13 with a pair of walks so far.
Hunter Pence, batting fifth for San Francisco in left field, has faced Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright the most, and is 15-for-54 (.278) with four doubles and three home runs against him. Buster Posey is just 2-for-14 (.143) with a walk against Wainwright.
Kolten Wong didn't start in Game 1 of the NLDS for St. Louis, sitting in favor of Pete Kozma, but has started every game since for the Cardinals, and is back in the lineup against Madison Bumgarner.
Center fielder Jon Jay is 6-for-14 (.429) with three doubles in his career against Bumgarner, but St. Louis' No. 3 and cleanup hitters haven't fared as well. Matt Holliday is 3-for-18 (.167) against Bumgarner, while Jhonny Peralta is 1-for-11 (.091), though the hit was a home run.
