The St. Louis Cardinals took a 4-3 lead over the San Francisco Giants entering the ninth inning of Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday night. The two teams have traded leads in an exciting game at Busch Stadium as the Cards seek to avoid a 2-0 deficit heading onto the road for the next few nights.
Matt Adams home run gives Cardinals a 4-3 lead
Matt Adams went deep again, and the Cardinals have a 4-3 lead entering the ninth inning against the Giants on Sunday night.

Matt Adams is the possible hero once again after going deep on Giants reliever Hunter Strickland in the bottom of the eighth inning. Here is a shot of what it looked like at contact:
St. Louis took an early 2-0 lead on Sunday thanks to a Matt Carpenter home run -- his fourth of the postseason -- and an RBI single by Randal Grichuk, but allowed the Giants to rally from behind. San Francisco scored one run each in three straight innings to take a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh, with a chance to potentially put the game away.
Cardinals outfielder Oscar Taveras didn't let San Francisco's lead last very long, however, before the 22-year-old crushed a solo home run to right field to tie the game back up. Pinch-hitting for pitcher Carlos Martinez, Taveras caught a mistake from Jean Machi to tie the game.
The next inning, Adams took center stage again, taking Strickland deep to give St. Louis the lead with just three outs remaining. Assuming the Cards don’t blow it, we’re looking at a 1-1 series with things heading to AT&T Park for Game 3.
