Orioles vs. Royals, 2014 ALCS Game 4: Start time, TV schedule, live stream and starting pitchers
A well-rested Jason Vargas has a chance to pitch Kansas City into the World Series.

Jason Vargas hasn't pitched for 13 days, but he'll be on the mound for the Kansas City Royals to start Game 4 of the American League Championship Series against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.
“I’ve never had this much rest,” Vargas told reporters before the Royals’ victory in Game 3. “I couldn’t give you a good guideline on what I’ll be looking for, but I’ll be ready to go and be ready to try to execute my game plan and execute pitches.”
Vargas performed well in his postseason debut, holding the Los Angeles Angels to two runs on three hits in six innings in Game 1 of the ALDS. That was a long time ago, but if nothing else, Vargas will certainly be fresh for his second playoff start. But will the extra-long layoff translate to rust?
“I don’t know, I guess we’ll find out [Wednesday],” Vargas said. “But, yeah, I feel fine. Definitely rested. Had some bullpen sessions and everything feels fine,” he added.
The Orioles will counter with Miguel Gonzalez, manager Buck Showalter confirmed following the conclusion of Game 3. Gonzalez, like Vargas, has only one playoff start under his belt, but the 30-year-old right-hander made it count.
"It was a great game," Gonzalez said of his seven-inning, one-run performance in the 2012 ALDS against the New York Yankees. "I felt good coming out of that game, but unfortunately, we didn't win."
“It’s definitely exciting again to be in this position and be able to play in the ALCS. I’m excited to go,” Gonzalez added.
