World Series schedule 2014: Royals to open at home on Oct. 21
The Kansas City Royals have advanced to the World Series for the first time in 29 years, with a 2-1 win on Wednesday and sweep of the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Championship Series. The Royals will now await either the San Francisco Giants or St. Louis Cardinals in the Fall Classic.
The Giants lead the Cardinals in the NLCS, three games to one.
The 2014 World Series will begin at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on Tuesday, Oct. 21, opening in the American League park by virtue of the A.L. winning the All-Star Game in July. This is the first trip to the World Series for the Royals since 1985, also the last season the team made the playoffs.
This is the Royals' third trip to the World Series, with a win over the Cardinals in 1985 and a loss to the Phillies in 1980.

Game 1: Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Kauffman Stadium
