Lorenzo Cain wins ALCS MVP

The Kansas City Royals advanced to their first World Series in 29 years with a four-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles, and outfielder Lorenzo Cain was named Most Valuable Player of the 2014 American League Championship Series.
Cain was 0-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt on Wednesday afternoon in Game 4, a 2-1 triumph for Kansas City, its eighth consecutive victory to open the postseason. But even with a hitless game, Cain hit .533 (8-for-15) during the series with two doubles, two walks, a stolen base and five runs scored. He led the team in hits, runs, doubles (tied with Billy Butler) during the series.
The 28-year-old center fielder, one of four players acquired in the six-player Zack Greinke trade with the Brewers in December 2010, also made several highlight catches throughout the series, and in the postseason.

Cain joins second baseman Frank White (1980) and third baseman George Brett (1985) as Royals to win ALCS MVP awards. White, who hit .545 (6-for-11) in the 1980 ALCS against the Yankees, is the only Royals with a higher batting average in a postseason series than Cain.
