Madison Bumgarner named NLCS MVP
The Giants ace led his squad to wins in Games 1 and 5, earning the first NLCS MVP for a pitcher in San Francisco history.

Continuing to build the type of postseason résumé that some players ride all the way to Cooperstown, Giants ace Madison Bumgarner walked away with the 2014 NLCS Most Valuable Player, thanks to a 1.72 ERA in 15⅔ innings in the series, including eight strong innings in Thursday's pennant clincher.
The 2010 first-round pick has been dominant all postseason, but may have reached his peak during Game 1 in St. Louis. Bumgarner pitched 7⅔ shutout innings last Saturday in St. Louis, extending his postseason record to 26⅔ consecutive road innings without a run.
Bumgarner allowed three runs on Thursday night in Game 5, but none in his final four innings, retiring the final 13 batters he faced. In four postseason starts this season, Bumgarner has a 1.42 ERA with 28 strikeouts and five walks in 31⅔ innings.
Bumgarner is the first Giants pitcher to be named NLCS MVP, following Will Clark (1989), Benito Santiago (2002), Cody Ross (2010) and Marco Scutaro (2012).
