Source: Dodgers have not shut door on re-signing Hanley Ramirez

The team may be open to a reunion with the free-agent infielder.

Despite reports that the Dodgers are moving on from free-agent infielder Hanley Ramirez, major-league sources told SB Nation that the team "has not shut the door" on a reunion with the 30-year old. It is currently unknown if the team has made an offer to Ramirez since the end of the season.

At this point, it remains to be seen whether the Dodgers will be serious players in the Ramirez sweepstakes due to the multiple "moving pieces" they have on their roster. Los Angeles is known to be shopping outfielders Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford, and has also been linked to White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez in recent trade rumors.

As others have reported, the Astros, Mariners, Red Sox, and Blue Jays have all checked in on Hanley, with one source adding that "a couple of others" are in the mix as well. It appears that the infielder is very early in his free-agent process, with a signing not likely to come for a while.

Ramirez rejected the Dodgers’ qualifying offer earlier this month, meaning the team would receive a compensatory draft pick if he were to sign elsewhere. Ramirez is expected to receive a high-dollar, multi-year deal on the open market.
