Former Cincinnati Reds skipper Dusty Baker wants to manage again and put his name into consideration for several positions this offseason, he recently told Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News.
Dusty Baker wants to manage again
Dusty Baker wasn’t ready to relinquish his post in Cincinnati and relishes the thought of returning to the dugout.

“What’s it take to call back and say, ‘No, thank you?’”
The Reds let Baker go after losing to the Pirates in the NL Wild Card play-in game in October. The team suggested to Baker that both parties announce the departure as a retirement, but the 64-year-old California native wanted no part of it:
“That’s not what I wanted. I’ll know when I want to retire ... I said, ‘Let’s call it what it is.’”
Cincinnati announced the firing of Baker on Oct. 4, three days after he completed his third 90-plus-win season in four years. The team hired Bryan Price as Baker's replacement 18 days later.
Baker is 1,671-1,504 in 20 seasons with the Reds, Giants and Cubs. He hasn't won a World Series in his managerial career but has reached the postseason seven times and won the 2002 NL pennant with San Francisco.
