The Arizona Diamondbacks have extended the contracts of GM Kevin Towers and manager Kirk Gibson, according to Steve Gilbert. Details regarding the lengths and dollar amounts of the contracts have yet to be disclosed. Both men were entering 2014 as the last year on their respective contracts.
Diamondbacks extend contracts of Kevin Towers and Kirk Gibson
The team has extended the contracts of both their general manager and their field manager.

Gibson took over as manager in July of 2010 after the team fired A.J. Hinch. Towers was hired that September to take over for interim GM Jerry DiPoto, who had taken the wheel after Josh Byrnes was dismissed. They earned a lot of goodwill by turning around the D’backs in short order, taking them from 97 losses in 2010 to 94 wins and the NL West crown in 2011.
Since then though, Arizona has stalled, finishing with identical 81-81 records the past two seasons. The team looks much different than they did when the men took over, as many high-profile trades have reworked the roster. Justin Upton is gone, and so are top pitching prospects Trevor Bauer and Tyler Skaggs.
