Tonight, Yasiel Puig flipped his bat while hitting an enormous home run. Sorry: tonight, Yasiel Puig “flipped his bat” while hitting an enormous home run:
Yasiel Puig hits dinger off Madison Bumgarner, slightly tosses bat, incites ANGER
DON’T REACT AT ALL TO YOUR HOME RUN. JUST LAY THE BAT DOWN QUIETLY AND WALK VERY NORMALLY BETWEEN THE BASES.

It’s true: Yasiel Puig disposed of his bat while hitting a home run, because it is considered societally silly to carry it all the way around the bases. He didn’t drop it down mildly because that could hamper his path around the bases. He kinda tossed it, because that’s an efficient way to send it along. He tossed it. You could call this “flipping” but the bat doesn’t really flip. It rotates.
Baseball's unwritten rules
Incidentally, this is a dope way to get rid of a bat you’re holding after hitting a ball 400 damn feet. However, doing this is GREATLY OFFENSIVE. And the guy who gave up the homer was OFFENDED:

— Larry Brown (@LBSports) May 10, 2014 Look, y’all: Sure, what Yasiel Puig ain’t “respectful.” Hitting a homer off somebody ain’t respectful neither. He threw his bat to the side and ran around the bases.

(Side note: Bumgarner pitched 8 innings of 4-hit ball with Puig’s homer the only run, which is really really good, but also raises the question of why he’s so dang mad. Shut em up with pitching, sir!)
