Every baseball coach starting in little league will tell pitchers to be sure to have their glove in position to field the ball after their windup. Luckily for Athletics starter Jesse Chavez on Tuesday night, he heeded that advice.
Jesse Chavez catches line drive in self defense
No baseball players were harmed in the making of this play.

Down 3-2 in the fourth inning, Chavez used his glove as more of a self-defense mechanism to snag the line drive off the bat of Mariners outfielder Michael Saunders, a ball that in many ways caught Chavez.
The catch ended the inning, stranding Dustin Ackley at second base. Chavez pitched into the sixth inning for Oakland.
