Jose Bautista, Mike Trout lead latest AL All-Star vote

Don’t worry, Yankees fans, Jeter is still leading, too.

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Voting for the 2014 All-Star Game is nearly at a close. As it stands, this is your American League lineup:

Most of the races are essentially over. At first, the Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera is crushing newcomer Jose Abreu. It’s difficult to see Ian Kinsler overtaking Robinson Cano at second, or Adrian Beltre passing Josh Donaldson at third. Derek Jeter will likely get a last swell of support just to guarantee hardcore Alexei Ramirez fans won’t keep Jeter from being the starting shortstop in his final midsummer classic appearance, and at designated hitter, Nelson Cruz and his league-leading 25 homers are crushing David Ortiz. Two of the three outfield spots are held by the leading vote getters in Jose Bautista and Mike Trout, who both have far more than double of the current third-ranked outfielder.

Things are still close behind the plate, though, with Matt Wieters leading even though his season is over thanks to Tommy John surgery: you can stop voting for him now, Orioles’ fans: Derek Norris is probably going to start, anyway. The final outfield spot is the only true battle that remains, as fewer than 90,000 votes separate Yoenis Cespedes, Melky Cabrera, and Adam Jones. We’ll find out which team’s fan base truly loves the Internet in the next few days.

Voting ends at 11:59 pm eastern time on Thursday, July 3. The last National League voting update will be unveiled on July 1.
