MLB Draft order 2014: Astros pick first for 3rd year in a row
The Astros, Marlins, White Sox, Cubs and Twins will draft first this year. Here’s a look at the full draft order for the first round and beyond.
The first two rounds (and 74 picks overall) take place on Thursday. Rounds 3-10 will come on Friday. Saturday will be a long and busy day as rounds 11-40 are completed, wrapping up the draft.
The Houston Astros will have the No. 1 overall pick for the third year in a row. Last year, the club selected Stanford Cardinal ace Mark Appel. Following the Astros will be the Marlins, who already have some nice young pieces on the field in Miami. The Chicago White Sox have the No. 3 pick. The Cubs and Twins round out the top five.
