Derek Jeter went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored in his final All-Star Game. The two hits were only a pair of the more minor moments in an event that will be forever etched in the minds of everyone who watched or otherwise participated.
Reactions to Derek Jeter’s final All-Star Game appearance
Everyone was talking about the Yankee Captain, naturally.

Jeter started off the evening with an incredible speech to his American League teammates just before the players took the field for pregame introductions:
Once Jeter took the field and did what he's always done, several major leaguers, including a couple of All-Stars, took to Twitter to show their appreciation for the Yankee Captain.
Jeet as usual.....standing out when it counts!!! #RE2PECT
— Jimmy Rollins (@JimmyRollins11) July 16, 2014 Jeter is the man...that's all.
— Brett Anderson (@BAnderson_30) July 16, 2014 Good guys up 3-0 early!! Jeter knock to right (weird), trout triple (odd) and then miggy lalalalalalaBOMBAAA!!! #theseguysaregooooood #ASG
— David Price (@DAVIDprice14) July 16, 2014 Back-to-back, my first two All-Star Games. Mariano retires, now Jeter. So happy to be part of both. #ASG
— Salvador Perez (@SalvadorPerez15) July 16, 2014 The Brewers, who had a couple of their own players come up big in the game, displayed some class as well:
— Milwaukee Brewers (@Brewers) July 16, 2014 What good is anything without some humor? CBS News unintentionally gave us that with this erroneous tweet (that has since been deleted), and the Dodgers were kind enough to make everyone aware of its ramifications:

— Boston.com (@BostonDotCom) July 16, 2014 No. 1 trend WORLDWIDE is Michael Jeter!
— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) July 16, 2014 A few innings after Jeter was removed from the game, Angels outfielder Mike Trout followed, but not before Trout added a double and drove in his second run of the game. Jeter gave the young star a good ribbing:
Jeter to Trout as the #Angels' star left the game. "You're done? 22 years old and you're done?"
