Little League World Series 2014 schedule for Friday

Four more games are slated for Friday’s action including Mo’ne Davis.

Matthew O’Haren-USA TODAY Sports

While the first eight teams kick off the 68th Little League World Series on Thursday, there’s still pomp and ceremony on Friday, as the other eight teams start their play in Williamsport, Pa. The double-elimination round-robin will continue play over the next two weeks.

Here is the schedule for Friday afternoon and evening, with two of the four games on ESPN, one on ESPN 2 and another on ABC. All will be available online via Watch ESPN:

  • Mexico vs. Canada, 1 p.m. Eastern
    Volunteer Stadium
ESPN, with Dave Flemming and Kyle Peterson on the call
  • Philadelphia vs. Nashville, Tenn.
    Lamade Stadium
ESPN, with Karl Ravech, Chris Burke, and Jaymee Sire on the call
  • Venezuela vs. Japan
    Volunteer Stadium
ESPN2, with Flemming and Peterson on the call
  • Pearland, Texas vs. vs. Cumberland, R.I.
    Lamade Stadium
ESPN, with Ravech, Barry Larkin, and Sire on the call

While Pennsylvania is one of the winningest states in this tournament, with four championships, no team from Philadelphia has made as far as the one fronted by 13-year old Mo’ne Davis. Davis has emerged as a national darling after breaking out a 70-MPH fastball, and pitching the Taney Dragons of Center City to the LLWS. Davis and Emma March mark the 17th and 18th women to play in Williamsport, though it’s just the third time in the last 11 years that multiple girls will be playing there at the same time.
