The Washington Nationals defeated the Marlins on Friday, securing the top overall seed in the National League, locking down home-field advantage through the NLCS and the right to face the winner of the National League Wild Card matchup.
NLDS schedule 2014: Nationals will play Wild Card winner in 1st round
The Nationals clinched the best record in the National League and the No. 1 seed in the NL playoffs. They will open the 2014 NLDS at home on Friday, Oct. 3, facing the winner of the NL Wild Card Game.


The win pushed the Nationals to 94-65 on the season, a record the National League West champion Los Angeles Dodgers cannot match before the season ends. The Nationals were an impressive 51-42 in the first half before kicking it into high gear in the second, producing a 42-22 record heading into the season’s final weekend.
The National League Wild Card Game featuring the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Francisco Giants will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1, airing on ESPN.
The Nationals will host the winner of that game on Oct. 3, with the first two games taking place in the nation’s capital.

Game 3: Monday, Oct. 6 at NL Wild Card winner

The NLDS will be televised on FOX Sports 1 or MLB Network.
The Nationals took five of seven games against the Giants, winning three of four in San Francisco and two of three in DC. They faced Pittsburgh seven times as well, going 4-3 in those contests, sweeping Pittsburgh at home after losing three of four at PNC.
