Friday MLB viewing guide: Angels look to clinch best record in AL, Mariners seek to stay alive

The Angels could kill two birds with one stone, securing the best record in baseball and eliminating the Mariners from postseason contention.

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Jered Weaver will make his final regular season start on Friday, as the Mariners host the Angels and attempt to stave off elimination for one more night. With a three-game deficit and three games to play, a Mariners loss or a Royals/Athletics win will end Seattle's postseason hopes.

While Seattle will be fighting for its playoff life, the Angels will be looking to clinch the best record in the American League (and baseball), and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
