The Texas Rangers look to rebound after suffering a blowout 10-1 loss in the opener against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. On Friday, Texas will try to avoid an 0-2 hole with the first two games at home, hosting Game 2 at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

Texas tries to rebound from 0-1 hole
TBS will televise the 1:08 p.m. ET game, the first of four playoff games scheduled for Friday.
Yu Darvish gets the start for Texas in Game 2, a big difference between the 2016 Rangers and 2015 Rangers as these two teams meet for a second straight year in the Division Series. Last year, Darvish was rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and was unavailable.
“I know I wanted to pitch, but at the same time it wasn’t a minor injury I had. It was a major surgery, and I was working out like you never know when you’re going to be out pitching again and stuff,” Darvish told reporters on Thursday. “And it was more like focusing on my stuff that I was doing rehab and all. But like I said, I wanted to pitch, that’s for sure.”
The Blue Jays go for the commanding 2-0 series lead by sending to the mound J.A. Happ, who was 20-4 with a 3.18 ERA in 32 starts with Toronto this year.
But the Blue Jays know that losing the first two games at home doesn’t guarantee anything. Just last year, Texas won two games in Toronto then headed home trying for the sweep. But instead, Toronto returned the favor with two road wins, then closed out the series with a thrilling Game 5 win.
These two teams have had a heated rivalry for over a year now, and Rangers manager Jeff Banister knows his players don’t need any extra motivation in the series.
“The one thing I would challenge our guys to do is to embrace whatever comes down every inning and to be focused on every single pitch, every situation,” Banister said. “Clear mind. Clear eyed. Allow themselves to play relaxed with that youthful joy that they’ve been playing with all year long.”
