Saturday marks the end of the 2016 MLB Draft, with Rounds 11-40 getting selected on the third and final day of Major League Baseball's annual restocking of farm systems with domestic amateur talent.

Thursday night was filled with pomp and circumstance, with the first two rounds of the draft plus Competitive Balance Rounds A and B, 77 picks in all. Several MLB legends were on hand to announce picks as team representatives, and in the first round there were four minutes in between picks.

After that, through the 10th round there were one-minute intervals in between selections, but all that goes away on Saturday. With 30 teams and 30 rounds remaining, there are 900 picks to get through on the final day, and they will all come in rapid succession.

Each round on Saturday is the same order, from the Philadelphia Phillies at the top to the St. Louis Cardinals picking 30th.

The late rounds often produce major league players, including Detroit Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez (picked in the 20th round in 2009 by the Houston Astros), Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick (17th round in 2006 by the Boston Red Sox) and Kansas City Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain (17th round in 2004 by the Milwaukee Brewers) to name a few.

Mike Piazza will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in July, and he was drafted in the 62nd round by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1988. The draft doesn't even go that deep anymore, so 40 rounds will have to do.

The third and final day of the draft will not be televised. Instead, MLB.com will stream its all-day coverage beginning with Round 11 at 12 p.m., all of it streamed online.
