The reported deal sending Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy to the Cleveland Indians for four prospects is off after Lucroy exercised his no-trade clause Sunday, reports Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

The catcher declined to waive his no-trade clause after the Indians refused to set aside his club option for 2017, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports. The option is an extraordinarily team-friendly $5.25 million next year, according to Cot’s Contracts.
Lucroy was also concerned that there was no guarantee he would remain the everyday catcher once Yan Gomes returns from his separated shoulder, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.
The Brewers were going to receive four prospects in the deal, including catcher Francisco Mejia. While the Indians and Brewers could try to revive trade talks, Cleveland has reportedly “moved on” from Lucroy, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Milwaukee will probably still try to trade Lucroy before Monday’s non-waiver trade deadline, writes Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish, with the Brewers able to re-open talks with the New York Mets, Texas Rangers and other clubs not included in Lucroy’s limited no-trade clause possibilities. ESPN’s Adam Rubin reports that the Mets will try to land at least one of Jonathan Lucroy or Jay Bruce.
The Indians made another move Sunday morning to bolster their 2016 postseason hopes, acquiring reliever Andrew Miller from the Yankees for prospects Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield, Ben Heller and J.P. Feyereisen.
