Spectator carted off after pregame fall from Wrigley Field bleachers

The incident occurred while the game was in a rain delay prior to the first pitch. The man fell out of the bleachers in right-center field and onto the warning track. There is a protective basket around the outfield wall at Wrigley Field and it appears the man was attempting to jump over it and onto the field, according to the Cubs.

According to a report from the Associated Press, medical personnel ran from the dugout to attend to the man as he lay face down on the warning track. He was eventually turned to his back and secured to a brace to stabilize his neck before being carted off.
The Cubs said the man was taken to a hospital, but there was no further news on his condition.
“Prior to tonight’s game, a fan was injured after attempting to jump onto the field from the Wrigley Field bleachers. The fan was taken by paramedics to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center,” the Cubs said in a statement, via NBC Chicago. “We are unable to provide further comment on his condition at this time. We will remain in contact with the fan’s family to stay updated on his progress.”
