LOS ANGELES — Dodgers utility man Charlie Culberson hit one of eight home runs at Dodger Stadium in Game 2 of the World Series Wednesday night. His home run in the 11th inning brought the Dodgers to within one run, but the Astros were able to hold on for the thrilling, 7-6 win to even the series.
No, Charlie Culberson didn’t think he tied Game 2 of the World Series with his home run

Culberson’s reaction rounding the bases was very celebratory, caught up in the moment. So much so that Joe Buck on the Fox broadcast speculated Culberson might have thought his home run tied the game.
There was reaction in the Astros’ clubhouse as well:
But no, Culberson was aware of the score.
“I knew the score was 7-5. It was adrenaline, and I think anybody would say the same thing,” Culberson said. “That’s a good feeling.”
It has been a whirlwind postseason for Culberson, who filled in admirably at shortstop in the NLCS for Corey Seager, who was out with a back sprain. This postseason, Cuberson is 6-for-13 (.462) with four extra-base hits after a season that saw him play in just 15 major league games in the regular season, with two singles in 13 at-bats.
Near the end of an exciting game — five of the eight total home runs by the Dodgers and Astros were hit in extra innings — Culberson got caught up in the moment.
“I never would have imagined hitting a home run in the World Series, and I did that. I pointed to my parents in the stands and pointing to my wife,” Culberson said. “I was just having fun out there, nothing more than that.”
