- Maybe your team isn’t in the postseason and you need a rooting interest for October. Maybe your team is in the postseason, and you just want to see what everyone else has going for them. Either way, we’ve got you covered, as these are the three reasons you should watch every team in the 2017 playoffs.
- There are 25 possible World Series matchups at the start of the postseason, and we’ve ranked them all. Using science! And also whatever Grant Brisbee felt like doing.
- Here’s the schedule for the entire postseason, which we’ll update with scores throughout.
- And here are the game times for the first week of games.
- We covered one player from each team that you should know more about because they’re worth appreciating and maybe you don’t already know them since you mostly follow your local team or don’t watch the other league.
- For the Astros, that’s George Springer, who tends to get less attention than teammates like Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve, but he’s a key piece of the puzzle, too.
- The Red Sox were getting nothing out of third base until 20-year-old Rafael Devers showed up.
- You might remember Trea Turner from his iffy outfield play in last year’s NLDS, but he’s back at shortstop where he belongs, and he’s a huge part of the Nationals’ success.
- The Dodgers’ Chris Taylor is a former Mariners prospect who of course succeeded after he was traded to another team.
- Willson Contreras has taken on a more significant role with the Cubs this year, and with good reason.
- Charlie Blackmon is much more than a beard, though the beard definitely ties the Blackmon experience together.
- Robbie Ray used to just be the guy in the Doug Fister trade, but now he’s the D-Backs’ No. 2 starter.
- Luis Severino went from being a solid pitching prospect whose future might be in the bullpen to Yankees ace, and it all happened in a hurry.
- Byron Buxton’s season line might not let you see this, but he’s been playing like a star for months, and he is a huge part of the Twins even being in the postseason.
- And finally, Corey Kluber might be the Indians’ best overall player, and Francisco Lindor gets the national attention, but Jose Ramirez has powered their lineup in 2017.
- The Twins and Yankees have a lengthy postseason history, but none of that matters much to the players who will face off on Tuesday in the AL Wild Card Game.
- And to wrap up our postseason looks, here are our predictions, which are somehow all correct even if they are all different.
- In non-postseason news: Braves general manager John Coppolella resigned on Monday, and there are a whole bunch of layers to this story. Talking Chop is on all of them, though.
