The 2017 MLB All-Star Game isn’t until Tuesday, but with all this time to kill on Monday before the Home Run Derby begins, Major League Baseball released the lineups for this year’s midsummer classic.
Here are your 2017 MLB All-Star Game lineups and starting pitchers
We already knew who was starting the MLB All-Star Game in Miami, but now we know what order they’re all going to the plate in.

Before we get to those, though, know that MLB also released the starting pitchers selected for the All-Star Game: we’ll get Boston Red Sox ace Chris Sale taking on the Washington Nationals’ Max Scherzer. At least, we’ll get that to start: now that the All-Star Game doesn’t determine home field advantage in the World Series, we’ll probably see the two teams burn through pitchers faster rather than making them work toward a W.
Sale started the All-Star Game last year as a member of the White Sox, so this start makes him the first to ever do it in consecutive years for different teams. This isn’t Scherzer’s first All-Star start, either, as he began the game for the AL back in 2013 while with the Tigers.
As for the lineups, the National League is taking advantage of having a designated hitter at their disposal to make their lineup even more frightening and full of muscle:
- Charlie Blackmon, CF
- Giancarlo Stanton, DH
- Bryce Harper, RF
- Buster Posey, C
- Daniel Murphy, 2B
- Nolan Arenado, 3B
- Ryan Zimmerman, 1B
- Marcell Ozuna, LF
- Zack Cozart, SS
The Marlins are hosting the All-Star Game, and even though their season isn’t going particularly well, they still managed to get two key players into the starting lineup.
For the AL, it’s the Astros dominating the lineup with three entries that have helped power them to the best record in baseball:
- Jose Altuve, 2B
- Jose Ramirez, 3B
- Aaron Judge, RF
- George Springer, LF
- Carlos Correa, SS
- Justin Smoak, 1B
- Corey Dickerson, DH
- Salvador Perez, C
- Mookie Betts, CF
Don’t sleep on the AL’s lineup, even if it lacks the same kind of established names of the NL’s starting nine: all of these dudes are having a wonderful 2017, and it’s still a situation where last year’s MVP runner-up is batting ninth. Sure, we’d all love to see Mike Trout share a field with Bryce Harper and Giancarlo Stanton and Betts and Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa, but this is still some fine baseballing to look forward to. And we’ll get subs often for the same reason the pitchers won’t be leaned on too heavily.
