Chris Christie caught a foul ball at a Mets game and was promptly booed by the entire stadium

Even the guys in the booth piled on New Jersey’s governor.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was in the crowd at the Mets game against the Cardinals at Citi Field on Tuesday night, and sat watching the game with little fanfare for the first few innings. That is until he caught a foul ball hit by Paul DeJong, and then everybody in attendance noticed him all at once.

Christie, who has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons, wasn’t even in his own state and managed to get booed by an entire ballpark of fans. That’s pretty impressive, if you think about it.

But the fans weren’t the only ones who negatively responded to Christie attending the game and catching a ball. Even the booth got in on the fun, with a brief putdown about Christie’s recent extracurricular activities.

“Nice to see him get from the beach here to the ballpark.”

That, of course, is in reference to his recent day on a Jersey beach during a government shutdown of the majority of public beaches. Christie was caught red handed and his constituents weren’t too pleased with the abuse of office.

This moment at the park is proof that the governor can’t escape from public opinion, even at the ballpark.
