Byron Buxton is known for prowling center field with skills not seen in many other ballparks around the country. When someone says “that guy can catch anything!” it’s not meant facetiously, as it’s usually true.
Byron Buxton laid out for a spectacularly impossible catch
Buxton even impressed himself with this snag.

With a catch on the warning track on Friday against the Tigers, Buxton proved that exclamation in a spectacular way.
This catch took away at least a base hit from Miguel Cabrera, and by all accounts he shouldn’t have been able to snag this out of the air at all.
As Statcast tells it, Buxton went 71 feet in just 4.6 seconds to reach the ball — which left Miggy’s bat at 119.2 miles per hour. But you don’t need statistics to tell you this catch is a beaut.
Buxton starts off running in the wrong direction, tracks the ball over his shoulder, and then completely lays out to somehow convince that ball to go in his glove without putting up a fight. Watching it over and over is acceptable and encouraged.
He gave himself a fist bump after he was done rolling around on the warning track, but the best reaction came from pitcher Kyle Gibson.
That smile says it all.
