Rich Hill loses no-hitter on a Pirates walk-off home run in extra innings
Chase Utley saved his perfect game in the eighth, but neither a perfecto nor a no-hitter was in the cards for Hill.

The Dodgers failed to score a run all game, forcing Hill to go into extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Hill’s no-hitter was broken up by a walk-off home run off Josh Harrison’s bat.
The Dodgers lost the game by a final score of 1-0. The homer was the only tally on the scoreboard over 10 innings. A pitcher’s duel if there ever was one.
The initial savior of the game was Chase Utley, who made a magnificent fully extended catch in the eighth inning to prevent a hit and back up Hill’s shot at a perfect game.
Hill’s final line was only 99 pitches with 10 strikeouts, one hit, and one run. A hair’s breadth away from a perfect game, a no-hitter, and a shutout win. None of which came to fruition.
The last (and only) perfect game for Los Angeles was all the way back in 1965, when Sandy Koufax threw one on Sept. 9 of that year. The Dodger faithful will have to wait a bit longer for the next one.
