The Mets roster is cursed by a woods witch. There’s no other way to explain this. One day after Michael Conforto left a game when he dislocated a shoulder while swinging a bat, Yoenis Cespedes left a game against the Nationals in the first inning.

The Mets disabled list is longer than a flight manifest at this point.


Conforto might need surgery, and Mets fans can only hope that the same won’t be the case for Cespedes.
While there isn’t an indication of how bad the injury is specifically, we do know he left with a right leg injury that struck while he was rounding the bases and trying to score from second after a Dominic Smith base hit.
He wasn’t putting much weight on it as he departed the field.
Jeurys Familia is no longer on this list, but Cespedes didn’t waste any time before taking his place.
If this is worse than a day-to-day problem for the Mets, it would be Cespedes’ second extended period on the disabled list after missing the first few months of the season with a hamstring injury.
No Met is safe, not even while doing routine activities.
UPDATE: Cespedes is going on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, and it appears from early reports that the outlook isn’t good.
