The Kansas City Royals were so close to scoring the first run of the night against the Cleveland Indians. Lorenzo Cain hit a ball to deep center field with a man on first base, and 99 times out of 100, this was the kind of liner that would’ve gotten to the wall.
Bradley Zimmer lays out for one of the best catches of MLB season
There aren’t many outfielders who could make this play.

Bradley Zimmer had something else in mind:
That’s almost some Jim Edmonds-esque craziness right there. No way Zimmer makes that catch without the perfect route and even better timing on the jump. According to MLB’s Statcast, he covered 66 feet in 4.2 seconds to make the play. This apparently is not unusual for him.
Zimmer, a top prospect for the Indians since being drafted in the first round three years ago, hasn’t done a ton of hitting in his MLB debut. He’s batting .246/.316/.392 with eight home runs in 291 plate appearances, which isn’t going to get anybody going.
The defense, on the other hand, looks, well, pretty dang good.
