This Kevin Pillar catch is absolutely unbelievable
Mookie Betts’ reaction says it all.
Mookie Betts thought he absolutely had an extra-base hit against the Blue Jays on Monday night, and he would have if it weren’t for that meddling Kevin Pillar.
Pillar turned on the jets in the outfield and somehow made covered all the ground he needed to in order to even be in a position to make the catch. Then, he actually leaped to make the catch.
Watching the video above, it’s impressive what Pillar is able to do. The entire stadium goes wild after he snags it.
But Mookie Betts’ reaction really drives the point home. Even more than a team’s pitcher applauding or fans freaking out, an opponent flashing that “well that was impossible but he did it, much respect” smile really seals how impressive something is.
With the Red Sox down 3-2 in the game at the time, that could have serious win-loss repercussions for the Jays and if they stay ahead all game they have Kevin Pillar to thank.
