Alex Gordon robbed the Tigers of a home run with an impressively effortless catch
Detroit said goodbye to three runs thanks to Gordon’s heroics.

When this ball came off Mikie Mahtook’s bat, the Tigers probably thought they had an easy three runs. Down 5-0 to the Royals, and hoping for a comeback in the fourth inning before a win got completely out of reach, that was not to be.
Alex Gordon, while barely breaking a sweat it seems, robbed Mahtook of a sure home run with a casual reach over the outfield fence and a snag.
While the Royals certainly appreciated that defensive showing, Mahtook’s stunned expression actually says it all.
As impressive as the catch itself is, the side view takes it to another level by showing just how far Gordon extended his arm to reach the ball.
That’s why you should always stretch before games, kids. You never know when you’re going to have to pull a Stretch Armstrong in order to maintain an important lead without breaking your shoulder.
