Position player pitching alert! It actually went pretty well for the Cubs too (comparative to the rest of the game).
Leonys Martin served as an emergency pitcher for the Cubs and he threw heat
He also let up a home run but not everything can be perfect.

After losing Jake Arrieta early in the game due to an apparent hamstring injury, the Cubs then turned to Justin Grimm for five outs, Rob Zastryzny for three innings, then Dillon Maples for an out.
Then, to face Andrew McCutchen and try to get the final two outs of a game that Chicago would lose 12-zip in the end, the Cubs turned to ... Leonys Martin?
Yep! The outfielder, who was just traded from Seattle to Chicago at the deadline, came in as an emergency pitcher in the eighth inning to wrap things up.
While Martin got the outs, things didn’t go as smoothly as he might have hoped.
He let up three hits during his time on the mound, including a two-run shot from David Freese. That home run did have an upside though, as it meant this freeze frame now exists.
Even though his ERA is now at 27.00 after his pitching performance, Martin was also throwing heat during his guest appearance on the mound. His fastball clocked in above 90 miles per hour, so the Cubs wouldn’t be wrong to keep him in mind for future emergency pitching needs.
