The Indians defeated the White Sox 5-3 on Monday night to kick off a four-game series. That victory was Cleveland’s 12th in a row, giving them the longest winning streak of anyone in MLB in 2017.
Indians 12-game win streak is MLB’s longest in 2017
The struggling Cleveland club from the beginning of the season has been left far behind.

The Indians have come a long way from their early season issues, where the Twins were the ones in first place: On May 27, the Indians were 24-23 and three games back of Minnesota. That ended up being the furthest Cleveland would be behind, however, as they now find themselves 81-56 and 10 games up on the Twins, who are fighting for the American League’s second wild card.
The Indians are now also just three games behind the Astros for the best record in the American League and the home-field advantage that would come with that, and that’s with the Astros starting to play well again with the disaster of August behind them.
Cleveland’s streak also comes at a time when the Dodgers are scuffling: Los Angeles has lost four games in a row for the second time this season, when it was just last week they were attempting to avoid their first four-game losing streak of the year. It’s a good reminder that this is a long season for everyone, and also that the Indians were the AL’s representative in the World Series last year for a reason: They’re really good at baseball.
It just took a little time to make that obvious once again in 2017, but their play since June and the now-longest win streak in MLB this season are both good reminders.
Cleveland might have to keep winning for a bit to hold on to this mark, however: The D-Backs defeated the Dodgers on Monday to earn their 11th consecutive win in their own attempt to remind the baseball-loving world that they’re capable, too.
