Starting tonight, the Braves will host the Marlins for a four-game series in Atlanta, but many Marlins’ fans minds will be on other more pressing issues.
Atlanta Braves are giving free tickets to any Florida evacuees this weekend
Hurricane Irma is deplacing many, but they can use baseball to take their mind off the storm.

Specifically, Hurricane Irma’s imminent impact on the state of Florida and the possible (and probable) fallout from its damage to most of the state.
With many Florida residents fully evacuating in advance of the storm, temporarily getting displaced for safety purposes with the hopes that things will be as close to normal as possible when they return, there are a lot of people that have gone north to Georgia to ride out the storm.
As a gesture of support for any displaced fans, the Braves are offering free tickets to any games of the Marlins series to those with a Florida ID.
In a statement, the Braves President of Business Dave Schiller said,
“We know how difficult it has been for those who have had to pack up and leave their homes as Hurricane Irma approaches. We hope we can help take their mind off the storm for a few hours by coming to enjoy a baseball game at SunTrust Park.”
While fans may not be in the mood for baseball as Irma passes through this weekend, it’s a great option for those who just want to focus their energy away the storm and what it’s doing to Florida while they are gone.
A great, and thoughtful, move by the Braves.
