Red Sox parade 2018 live updates: Highlights from Boston’s World Series celebration

The Red Sox beat the Dodgers to win the World Series on Sunday in Los Angeles, their ninth as a franchise and fourth since the turn of the century. Back on the East Coast, the players and fans will spend Halloween celebrating the win with another parade in Boston. The city’s 11th since 2002. So they’re well-practiced with the duck boats and the signs, etc.

That doesn’t mean this won’t be just as big a party as the ones before though. With the added Halloween element, we might be in for some true shenanigans.

As well as the players and their families and team employees, the Red Sox also invited Dana-Farber patients to join them. The Red Sox are major yearly donors and supporters of The Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Way to get the waterworks started early, guys.

Manager Alex Cora got things started on a confident note, saying the Red Sox scored 16 at Yankee Stadium so “suck on it.” You can do that when you won the World Series a few days ago.

Before leaving Fenway, David Ortiz got a few words in about this Red Sox team. The first team this millennium to win a World Series without him on the roster.

He had some fun on the boats later too. He just looks so natural with that trophy in his hands!

The best part of championship parades is all of the small children looking equally confused and adorable.

Pretty sure it can’t legally be a Boston championship parade if The Dropkick Murphys aren’t there somewhere.

Fans are throwing bananas as a nod to Brock Holt eating bananas during the endless, 18-inning Game 3 in LA. Or at least we’re assuming that’s the case. Maybe they just weren’t hungry for breakfast.

All in all it looked like a fun parade. Apparently someone dented the trophy by throwing a beer, so that’ll take some fixing. What else did you expect from a Boston crowd though? They love their team and go all in on celebrating. Nothing wrong with that.
