NCAA Baseball Tournament 2018: Bracket, schedule, scores, and results for regional round

Just 16 teams will survive the college tournament’s opening weekend.

The 2018 college baseball tournament couldn’t quite decide everything in the regional round over the first three days, so we will carry over into Monday as the final five regions are decided.

There were 16 regional host sites playing four-team double-elimination tilts over the course of the weekend. Only seven of those schools have advanced so far to the super regional round — Texas Tech, Arkansas, North Carolina, Stetson, Minnesota, Oregon State and Texas.

Georgia, Ole Miss and Florida can join that group on Monday, as the field is pared down to 16 teams, all vying for the eight-team College World Series.

Regional preview

The SEC sent a full 10 teams to this year’s field of 64, the second year in a row that this conference has topped the tournament in member representation.

Interestingly, Texas A&M seeded into the Austin, Texas regional, which grants us the opportunity to probably experience the beauty that is the Longhorns-Aggies rivalry, which isn’t even a rivalry at all. A&M left the Big 12 after the 2011-2012 academic year and jumped to the SEC, effectively ending the two football programs’ yearly meeting. The two still greatly dislike each other, though, as evidenced by this almost baseball fight back in 2016.

There’s a slight possibility that these two won’t actually meet, however, since the format of the opening round forces losing clubs into elimination brackets while winners move forward. Should these two tango in Austin, though, the earliest they’d see one another would be Saturday.

Below is all the information you need for watching and tracking the regional round of the NCAA tournament. We’ll update this space as scores roll in, so check back early and often. The entire tournament will be streamed on WatchESPN. Select games will air on the various ESPN networks as the tournament rolls on.
