The 89th All-Star Game is set for Tuesday night from Nationaals Park in Washington D.C. (8 p.m. ET, Fox), with the American League and National League looking to break a tie in the all-time series.
MLB All-Star Game 2018: Time, TV schedule, lineups, and more
Host Max Scherzer starts on the mound against Chris Sale.

The AL has won the last five midsummer classics and 12 of the last 15, knotting up the series at 43-43-2.
After the initial rosters were announced, eight players have bowed out due either to injury or pitching on Sunday. That brings us to 72 total All-Stars in 2018 — 36 for the National League, and 36 for the American League.
Max Scherzer gets the start in his home park. The winner of the last two National League Cy Young Awards is 12-5 with a 2.41 ERA, leading the NL in wins, strikeouts (182) and innings pitched (134⅔) for the Washington Nationals.
Chris Sale starts for the AL, after posting an AL-best 2.23 ERA and MLB-best 188 strikeouts for the Boston Red Sox. This marks the second time in All-Star history that the same pitchers have started back-to-back midsummer classics, and the first time since 1939-40.
Lineups
The American League is blessed with the two best hitters in 2018 — Mookie Betts and Mike Trout — plus the two major league home run leaders — J.D. Martinez and Jose Ramirez — and also has last year’s 1-2 finishers in MVP voting (Jose Altuve and Aaron Judge) all in the top six of their lineup.
The National League lineup isn’t as stacked, but also is solid from top to bottom. It is saying something when Bryce Harper is having the worst offensive season among the starting nine.
