It goes without saying that this has been a very, very bad season for the Colorado Rockies. Now it’s so bad it’s record setting. On Wednesday night the series with the Blue Jays ended in odious fashion, with Toronto beating down the Rockies 20-1. Somehow even sadder than that (and joyous for the Jays) are the totals from that series.

Losing a series 45-6 is bad in its own right, but it gets even worse. The Jays registered a total of 63 hits in the three game series, which is an MLB record. It’s the most hits registered in a three-game series in the modern era, which dates back to 1901 — and beats the previous record, set by the Red Sox in 1950, when they notched 62 hits against the St. Louis Browns.
The biggest beneficiary of this incredible stand was Vladimir Guerrero Jr, who finished the series 8-for-17, with two homers and four RBIs. Bo Bichette also had a mammoth series, going 7-for-17 with 10 RBIs, and Nathan Lukes was 6-for-13 with six RBIs.
The Jays went to 68-48 on the season, and are one of the best teams in baseball. The Rockies meanwhile, well, it’s best not to even talk about them.
