Ignacio Piatti wins MLS Player of the Week for Week 10

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

Kei Kamara may have taken the headlines over the weekend for his ongoing tirade against teammate Federico Higuain after the pair fought over who would take a penalty kick in Columbus Crew SC’s 4-4 draw, but it was a player from the other side of that game, Montreal Impact playmaker Ignacio Piatti, who ran away with SB Nation’s MLS Player of the Week honors for Week 10.

Piatti, who came flying out of the gate to start the season, had two goals in the game, which Columbus led 4-1 (Piatti scored Montreal’s opener) after the PK fight in the second half before Montreal came storming back to score three unanswered goals and claim a point. Yes, Columbus collapsed in spectacular fashion in the game, but let’s be real -- not every MLS team would have punished them the way Montreal did, and much of the credit goes to Piatti for that.

Full results for Week 10, with first-place votes getting three points, second-place votes receiving two points and third-place votes earning a point each:
