UFC 121 Results: Cain Velasquez Dominates Brock Lesnar
After Cain started to land Brock collapsed to the ground and Velasquez followed him and started landing hard punches from the top. It was an all out assault from there as Lesnar was split wide open on his cheek and bleeding badly. Brock did manage to get back to his feet but was quickly dropped again and Velasquez unloaded hammerfists and forced referee Herb Dean to jump in for the stoppage.
Cain Velasquez remains undefeated and now holds the UFC championship.

The judges scored the bout 29-28 Kampmann, 30-27 Shields and 29-28 Shields.
The fight with GSP suddenly looks like one that Jake would lose and lose badly without much doubt.

In the second round Diego got the takedown and really dominated from top, landing a lot of punches and elbows and simply outworking Thiago. Suddenly the world was being reminded that Sanchez is the much more accomplished grappler. In the third Diego got the takedown, took the back and did damage from the position including locking in a nasty body triangle. Thiago gave up the mount, got pounded on more and then turned back over. It was complete domination by Diego in the round.
The judges scored the bout 30-26, 29-28 and 29-28 for Sanchez.

Ortiz looked like a suddenly dynamic striker to open the fight, landing head kicks, body kicks, jabs and trying spinning backfists. SB Nation scored the first round to Ortiz even though Hamill has his moments where he found a home for the right hand. It wouldn’t last for Ortiz as in the second and third rounds Hamill got the takedown and used punches and elbows to bust up “the teacher.”
The judges scored the fight 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27 all for Matt Hamill who gets a very big win.

Unfortunately for Gonzaga, he did not remain committed to this strategy. Instead he attempted to counter Brendan as he came in. It was an unsuccessful strategy and one that led to a 30-27 loss on all three judges cards.

Tom Lawlor would do the Canadian no favors as he used his superior wrestling to get constant takedowns and do a lot of damage from top position with punches and elbows. At times Cote was able to work his way back to his feet but he was never able to do any damage or put Tom in the slightest bit of trouble over the fifteen minutes of action.
Big John McCarthy disappointed a lot of MMA fans by standing the fight up while Lawlor was actively working ground and pound. Regardless of if he was trying to assist in making the fight “entertaining” or not, it was bad reffing from a man once thought of as, without a doubt, the best in the business.
