Our friends over at Heavy MMA are reporting that UFC vets Mark Hominick and George Roop will likely lock horns at the UFC's upcoming 'Fight For The Troops 2' event in January. The pair will make their first appearance inside the Octagon since leaving the promortion to join the WEC's featherweight division.
Mark Hominick Vs. George Roop Possible For UFC Fight Night 23
Hominick was recently rumored to be Jose Aldo's next challenger for the newly minted UFC featherweight strap, but with Aldo signing on to fight Josh Grispi at UFC 125 in January, who and when he would be fighting next was still up in the air. Roop — who fought alongside Hominick on the WEC 51 card back in September — is fresh off his somewhat surprising headkick knock out over 'Korean Zombie' Chan Sung Jung.
In addition to both men being able to brag about beating up on Leonard Garcia, these two have a bit more in common. They both belong to the Shawn Tompkins stable of standouts, so things could get a bit tricky figuring out who stays and who goes. Seeing as Hominick has been with Tompkins for nearly a decade, I would assume Roop will be the odd man out here. He should have no issue finding a temporary spot to land, Xtreme Couture being my best bet.
