Strikeforce: Fedor Vs. Silva Results: Shane Del Rosario Submits Lavar Johnson

The third bout on the evening for Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva is Shane del Rosario vs. Lavar Johnson.

Both Lavar Johnson and Shane del Rosario enter the cage without much fan fare. Johnson’s body language is significantly more amped.

ROUND ONE

The referee in charge of the action is Yves Lavigne.

Del Rosario is standing southpaw and Johnson, orthodox, is already throwing bombs. Del Rosario body locks with Johnson and drives him back into the cage. Both fighters now jockey against the fence for position. It’s actually Johnson who lands on top after a trip takedown. Del Rosario now working from his own full guard. Johnson throws del Rosario’s legs by to land a bomb and del Rosario uses the opportunity to stand as Johnson overcommits. Johnson lands a big right to the body. Now del Rosario with a nice left counter. Johnson’s now throwing big punches but swinging wildly. Del Rosario gets Johnson to the ground and mounts as Johnson turns his hips in the wrong direction. Big punches from del Rosario in mount, but Johnson’s doing his best to block. Del Rosario spins for the topside armbar, almost loses it and recaptures it just in time to put Johnson away.

Shane del Rosario defeats Lavar Johnson by submission via armbar at 4:31 of the first round.
