UFC 127 Results: Alexander Gustafsson Stops James Te Huna After Early Storm

The second fight on the ION broadcast featured an interesting light heavyweight bout on the UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch between Alexander Gustafsson and James Te Huna. The Swede, Gustafsson, has amassed hardcore media and fan interest with his skill and poise. Te Huna, the New Zealander, was known for his savage attacks and physical strength. Gustafsson has more ways to win, but would need to use his serious skill to complete the task.

ROUND 1 - The referee is Marc Goddard.

Gustafsson looks very large compared to Te Huna and stuffs one takedown only to be finally taken down by a lateral drop. Te Huna passes to side. He attempts to get a mounted crucifix, but is rebuffed. Gustufsson recaptures half and then full guard. Te Huna landing savage ground and pound on top, but Gustafsson is able to stand. Now the fighters clinch against the fence. Te Huna worked for a single leg, doesn’t get it and Gustafsson pummels inside. Using length, Gustafsson lifts Te Huna and drives him to the mat. In going for a kimura Te Huna is able to stand. Off a botched sacrifice throw, Gustafsson takes Te Huna’s back and attempts a rear naked choke. And after a slight exchange is able to land it.

UFC 127 results: Alexander Gustafsson defeated James Te Huna by submission (rear naked choke) at 4:27 of round 1.
